The Removal of Jehovah from our Spanish Bibles – Carlos Donate

The Removal of Jehovah from our Spanish Bibles

By C.A. Donate

In a recent email conversation with a friend who supports the Spanish Monterrey Bible (a.k.a. “Valera 1602 Purificada”), I tried to explain that one of the reasons I didn’t support this project any more was because of the removal of the Name of God “Jehová” to “SEÑOR” in all but 6 passages of the Scriptures. The Monterrey Bible appears to follow the modern (and not so modern) trend against the proper translation of God’s holy Name Jehovah. He said (in poor Spanish): “Para me si Dios fuera aquí, el usará SEÑOR, la palabra más antigua, correcta, y protestante, en vez de Jehová.”  Translation: “For me, if God was here, he would use LORD, the most ancient, correct, and protestant word, instead of Jehovah.” When he said this, I immediately said to myself: “First of all, it is not the most ancient word, neither is it the most correct, nor is it protestant for that matter!Continue reading “The Removal of Jehovah from our Spanish Bibles – Carlos Donate”

A LOOK AT SOME OF THE CRITICISM

AGAINST THE REINA VALERA GOMEZ BIBLE

by Manny Rodriguez

The following quote is from the Translators To The Readers by the King James Bible translators:

“…namely that whosoever attempteth anything for the public (especially if it pertain to Religion, and to the opening and clearing of the word of God) the same setteth himself upon a stage to be gloated upon by every evil eye, yea, he casteth himself headlong upon pikes, to be gored by every sharp tongue. For he that medleth with men’s Religion in any part, medleth with their custom, nay, with their freehold; and though they find no content in that which they have, yet they cannot abide to hear of altering.”

I must give credit to Bro. Shane Rice, Missionary in Peru, who brought this quote to my attention through his website www.reinavaleragomez.com.

What a great truth!

My Opinion About Our Critics

MY OPINION ABOUT OUR CRITICS

By Dr. Humberto Gómez

Many have asked me, why dont you respond to your critics?

1. Our critics have a right to express their opinions.

The clash of ideas is the sound of libertyI may be 100% in disagreement with all they say or write; yet I would give my life to defend the right they have to express their ideas and their opposition to our work. Even if they exceed the lines of decorum, it is far better to let them speak up, than to try to silence them. I am a firm believer in the freedom of speech.
